Disclosed is a method for acquiring information on gastric cancer. The method comprises the steps of: preparing a DNA specimen from a biological specimen collected from a subject; analyzing methylation status of a CpG site in a promoter region of ZNF568 gene contained in the DNA specimen; and acquiring information that the biological specimen comprises a gastric cancer cell when it is determined that the methylation is present.
