According to this method for improving the thermal insulation of existing structures and new buildings are glazed, closed at their surface, filled with air balls of expanded silica or expanded perlite by means of Dünnstromförderung means of a pump carriage (1) with hose (3) and nozzle (4) the cavities and interspaces (5, 6, 7) of an existing building are blown in and these are then filled up. In one variant, these balls are pumped in combination with cementitious binders by means of thick flow promotion in these cavities and spaces. Hollow and interstitial building blocks are also treated for their insulating properties by pumping a mixture of cementitious binders and expanded silica sand or expanded perlite into the cavities and spaces and filling them with them. Nevertheless, these filled blocks have a virtually unchanged weight, but are much more heat-insulating than without backfilling.
