The present invention describes a process for treating residues in coke drums (6A, 6B) of delayed coking units (DCU), in which the process comprises injection of said residues (29) into coke drums (6A, 6B) during the coke bed purge phase. Injection (29) of the residues may be carried out directly into the coke drums (6A, 6B), dispensing with prior steps of separation of solids or treatments with demulsifying chemicals.
