- Method for operating a petroleum field from a well positioning technique to be drilled.- From a representative grid of the petrophysical properties of an underground formation traversed by at least one well, a reservoir simulation is carried out up to a time for which it is desired to predict the production of the studied formation. Then, representative attributes of the flows in the formation are selected and a classification of these attributes is made. Then, a quality indicator is calculated for each of the classes and at least one class is selected such that its quality indicator is greater than a first threshold. Then, a map representative of the occurrence is calculated along a predefined curve of the selected class, and the meshes of the map for which the occurrence of the selected class is greater than a second threshold are selected. And finally, we define the position of at least one new well according to the positions of the selected meshes.
