PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let non-melting mold powder efficiently absorb microwave so that a mold powder melting layer is uniformly generated.SOLUTION: A heating method for continuous casting mold powder is provided in which microwave is radiated on the mold powder poured into a continuous casting mold to heat the mold powder by the radiated microwave. Incident microwave intensity which is generated from a microwave generator and radiated to an upper space of the continuous casting mold and reflection microwave intensity which is reflected to the microwave generator without being absorbed to the mold powder are measured. The microwave is radiated while calculating a reflection rate of the microwave on the basis of the measured incident microwave intensity and the reflection microwave intensity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
