PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of rolling a tapered steel plate with high accuracy in plate thickness when a circumferential-direction different diameter roll is used so as to enable rolling with a large tapered gradient even at a high rolling speed in a roller low in hydraulic reduction performance.SOLUTION: By using a circumferential-direction different diameter roll, in view of a radial difference between the roll circumferential-direction reference position and the roll circumferential-direction optional position of the circumferential-direction different diameter roll, the proper value of a roll gap is calculated on the basis of a difference in rolling load prediction value between the roll circumferential-direction optional position and a sample point position adjacent to the roll circumferential-direction optional position and a difference between an exit side plate thickness and a target exit side plate thickness, and the roll pressure reduction position of the circumferential-direction different diameter roll is set according to the radial difference and the proper value of the roll gap.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
