PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combination of an optical material of a low refractive index high dispersion and an optical material of a high refractive index low dispersion that are excellent in performance as a diffraction optical element even with the diffraction optical element to be formed of an optical material using a resin component made up of an organic compound without using inorganic fine particle dispersion type resin.SOLUTION: Let a wavelength of light to be used in a diffraction optical element be λ, a lower limit of the wavelength be λ1, an upper limit of the wavelength λ2, a difference between a first optical material and a second optical material be n(λ), and a prescribed weighting function standardized in such a way that a maximum value is 1 be g(λ), a condition of a following expression is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: None
