PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily determine whether or not a thermal color extinction recording agent is used.SOLUTION: A sheet set in a sheet feed tray 2 is conveyed and a pre-heating image is read by a pre-heating reading part 11. Then, the sheet is conveyed to a heating device 20 and heated by the heating device 20 to a temperature or higher at which a thermal color extinction ink is decolored. Then, the sheet is conveyed to a post-heating reading part 12 and the pre-heating image is read by the pre-heating reading part 11. Subsequently, it is determined whether or not a thermal color extinction recording agent is used on the basis of the read pre-heating image and post-heating image, and when the thermal color extinction recording agent is determined to be used, notification to a user is performed by lighting a lamp 15 or giving a warning beep with a speaker 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
