PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam valve testing method for suppressing a double shock in a rotor at the testing time of a steam valve disposed at each of nozzle chambers, into which steam flows, in a steam turbine.SOLUTION: A steam valve testing method comprises: an object valve fully closing step of bringing such a steam valve 47A to be tested in steam valves disposed individually in a plurality of nozzle chambers 22, into a fully closed state; and an out-of-object opening step of bringing all other steam valves 47B, 47C and 47D than the steam valve 47A of the test target into fully open states before the steam valve 47A is fully opened so that all the steam valves 47B, 47C and 47D other than the steam valve 47A of the test object may be into the open states when the steam valve 47A is fully closed.
