PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an efficiency of a main machine at the time of a low load operation thereof at the main machine control device and the main machine control method, the main machine and a ship.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a diesel engine 1 for a ship comprising a diesel engine body 2; an exhaust turbine supercharger 3 including a compressor 21 and a turbine 22; an electric power generator 32 for driving the exhaust turbine supercharger 3; and an auxiliary blower 4 for supplying air to the diesel engine body 2. This engine shows a first scavenging-air supply mode [a] in which the auxiliary blower 4 is driven in a low rotation region of the diesel engine body 2 and a second scavenging-air supply mode [b] in which the exhaust turbine supercharger 3 is driven by the electric power generator 32 in a high rotation region of the diesel engine body 2. The first scavenging-air supply mode [a] and the second scavenging-air supply mode [b] are changed over in reference to a pre-set mode changing-over rotation number (a main machine specified load).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
