PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identical person detection method of positioning a person detection position which is detected using plural cameras in a single sketch and tracking a person within a wide area.;SOLUTION: Each of cameras has a field-of-view area that partially overlaps a field-of-view area of an adjoining camera. A person is detected by collating the person with a person model which is predefined in a two-dimensional camera image. Positional coordinates of the detected person in the camera image are obtained. A linear regression tree is used to approximate a nonlinear map to plural linear maps, whereby the positional coordinates of the detected person in the camera image are converted into positional coordinates in a two-dimensional sketch. The detected person is positioned in the sketch. An identical person is discriminated from persons that move within field-of-view areas of the respective cameras in the camera images, and an ID is assigned to the person. A person having the ID assigned to a person detected in an overlapping field-of-view area V of each camera is checked to see if the person has identity to be an object of tracking on the basis of proximity.
