PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iodine ion collector that efficiently and inexpensively extracts radioactive iodine (I).;SOLUTION: An I ion-adsorptive compound such as TK (Thiomichler's ketone) that selectively adsorbs a target element I is deposited on a high-ordered mesoporous silica (HOMS) produced from an organic silicon compound and a surfactant. The HOMS carrying the I ion-adsorptive compound is brought into contact with a solution in which the target element I is dissolved, so as to allow the I ion-adsorptive compound carried by the HOMS to selectively adsorb ions of the target element I. The HOMS carrying the I ion-adsorptive compound adsorbing ions of the target element I is chemically processed to isolate the ions of the target element I from the I ion-adsorptive compound carried by the HOMS to recover the target element I. The HOMS carrying the I ion-adsorptive compound from which the I ions are isolated can be reused. The HOMS carrying the I ion-adsorptive compound can be used as an I collector, a concentration detection sensor, or a radioactive iodine removing agent.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
