PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor system for measuring a torque generated in an engine.SOLUTION: A magnetoelastic torque sensor system for a drive train is described which comprises a primary sensor unit 14 having a magnetoelastic portion 40 and a secondary sensor unit 16 having a magnetic sensitive portion 18. A magnetoelastic material generates a magnetic field due to the torque contribution amount of each cylinder 22 in an engine 20. A signal provided by the secondary sensor unit 16 is processed by an electronic control unit 32. The electronic control unit 32 in particular controls and/or reads out at least one magnetic sensitive portion 18 of the secondary sensor unit 16 and generates a signal which correlates with stress applied on the primary sensor unit 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
