PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a magnetic element having endurance (durability) of close to infinity for the number of data writing times and also having almost perpetual data retention (holding) characteristics, and further capable of performing ultra high speed writing and deletion; and a skyrmion memory or the like.SOLUTION: There is provided a magnetic element capable of generating and deleting skyrmions. The magnetic element includes: a thin layer-like magnetic body; an electric field generating electrode provided to surround an end region including an end of the magnetic body on one surface of the magnetic body; and a skyrmion detection element for detecting the generation and deletion of skyrmions. In the end region, λ≥Wλ/4 and 2λhλ/2 are satisfied, where W is a width in a direction parallel to the magnetic body, and h is a height in a direction vertical to the end of the magnetic body in the end region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
