PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for detecting deformation of a sealed type secondary battery capable of highly sensitively detecting deformation of the sealed type secondary battery due to bulging of a unit cell, and, on the other hand, having excellent stability without compressing the volume, and also to provide the sealed type secondary battery, and a method for detecting deformation of the sealed type secondary battery.SOLUTION: This sensor for detecting deformation of a sealed type secondary battery includes: a polymer matrix layer 3; and a detection part 4. In the polymer matrix layer 3, fillers are scattered and contained which give a change to an external field in accordance with deformation of the polymer matrix layer 3. The detection part 4 detects the change in the external field. The polymer matrix layer 3 is attached in a compression state of being sandwiched in a gap between unit cells 2 adjacent to each other.
