PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent for volatile organic compounds derived from perishable organic matter, such as food, in an environment which contains low or no oxygen.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the use of palladium doped ZSM-5 with the Si:Al ratio less than or equal to 100:1. The palladium doped ZSM-5 is used to adsorb volatile organic compounds such as ethylene, formaldehyde, acetic acid, in an environment comprising less than 10 vol% of oxygen, as illustrated in Fig. 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
