PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke generator for a smoking tester capable of appropriately and quickly performing an operation test for a smoke detector at a low manufacturing cost without contaminating the smoke tester and a ceiling surface, and the smoking tester.;SOLUTION: A smoke generator 2 for a smoking tester 1A is provided in the smoking tester 1A used when performing an operation test for a smoke detector and generates pseudo smoke S. The smoke generator includes: a cylindrical body 6 having a pseudo smoke emission port 9 at a tip end thereof; a heater 7 disposed inside the cylindrical body 6; and a liquid supply part 8 that retains water-soluble liquid that is vaporized by heat of the heater 7 and supplies the water-soluble liquid to the heater 7.
