PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a carbon nanofiber electrode which is enhanced in intensity and conductivity as well as a charge/discharge capacity without increasing the amount of a metal oxide by increasing the amount of the metal oxide per se exposed to an electrolyte by making an arrangement such that the metal oxide is present outside carbon nanofiber.SOLUTION: A production method of a metal oxide-supported carbon nanofiber electrode comprises the steps of: producing a carbon nanofiber; activating the surface of the carbon nanofiber; causing the sedimentation of the carbon nanofiber thus activated in an electro deposition aqueous solution; performing an electro deposition of a metal oxide layer on the activated carbon nanofiber by an electro deposition method; and performing a thermal treatment on the carbon nanofiber with the metal oxide layer electro-deposited.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
