PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery arranged so that a gas generation amount in the battery can be evaluated efficiently with high accuracy even with a small amount of positive electrode active material; and a method for evaluation of an in-battery gas generation amount with such a battery.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode 3 and a negative electrode 6 which are opposed to each other through a separator 4; a nonaqueous electrolyte; a battery container which contains the positive electrode 3, the negative electrode 6 and the nonaqueous electrolyte; and a pressure sensor 11 serving as means capable of sensing a change in pressure in the battery container. A method for evaluation of an in-battery gas generation amount is arranged to use the battery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
