The present disclosure relates to compensation for delays in the synchronization period of the uplink frame and downlink frame at the base station in a cellular communications network. Generally, the base station includes a wireless device and a wireless device controller which together form at least a part of a base station. In one embodiment, the wireless device includes a first interface configured to receive data from the wireless device controller, and a second interface configured to transmit the data to the wireless device controller . During the synchronization period, the wireless device, the first interface of the wireless device receives a synchronization message from the wireless device controller.
