PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TAMR head which can increase the linear recording density.;SOLUTION: A TAMR head comprises: a magnetic write pole which produces a magnetic field for writing; a source of electromagnetic radiation; a WG 21; a PPG 22 adjacent to the WG 21 and opposed to the WG 21 across a gap 15; and a peg 224 formed at an ABS-exposed end of the PPG 22. A near field as a portion of a surface plasmon mode is confined to a region surrounding the peg 224 on a surface of a magnetic recording medium opposed to the peg 224, and the near field transfers energy to said region on the magnetic recording medium for heating to write magnetic information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
