PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a representative color determination device capable of confirming a color tone of an article that an observer watches separately from the article by a predetermined observation distance when a purchaser watches an image of the article displayed on a display device, a representative color determination method, a program and a recording medium.SOLUTION: The representative color determination device comprises: an observation distance input part for inputting information of an observation distance; a partial color acquisition part for dividing a region of an article included in an image of the article into a plurality of partial color regions and acquiring information of colors included in the partial color regions; and a representative color calculation part for determining whether a position corresponding to the information of the observation distance is included in a region where an observer can discriminate a color pattern included in each partial color region, on the basis of information of sight characteristics from the information of the observation distance and information about a repetition frequency and contrast of the color pattern of the article, and calculates a representative color in each partial color region from the information of colors included in the partial color regions in accordance with a result of the determination.
