PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing a substrate with a binuclear complex using a low-cost and abundant metal by using hydrogen.;SOLUTION: A method for reducing a substrate includes: a step to generate a nickel-iron hydride complex and proton by making a nickel-iron nitrile complex act on a hydrogen molecule and heterolytically activating the hydrogen molecule, and a step to reduce the substrate by making the nickel-iron hydride complex react with the substrate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
