PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a composite nanoparticle capable of maintaining a highly reactive metal in a stable state even when the metal is used, and capable of being easily produced; a method for producing the composite nanoparticle; and a glaze from which red color can be developed even when being subjected to oxidation firing at low firing temperature or intermediate firing temperature.;SOLUTION: In a liquid including a dispersant comprising a compound 12 having a functional group bonded to a metal and a functional group bonded to silica, a solvent and a metal ion donor, metal ions are generated while controlling the activity of the metal ions derived from the metal ion donor, and are further reduced to deposit a metal nanoparticle 11. Then, silica is formed on the metal nanoparticle 11 using a silica precursor compound forming a silica network by condensation polymerization to obtain a composite nanoparticle 1a or a composite nanoparticle 1b.
