PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for controlling a deceleration stop of a coke quenching electric locomotive that can prevent or reduce the occurrence of down time of automatic operation of the quenching electric locomotive even if the speed deviation increases between a target speed and an actual speed of the quenching electric locomotive due to slip of a driving wheel of the quenching electric locomotive, and hence can increase the production amount of the coke.;SOLUTION: In this method for controlling the deceleration stop of the coke quenching electric locomotive, when the travel speed of the quenching electric locomotive is automatically controlled by controlling an electric motor for driving the coke quenching electric locomotive with an inverter, the quenching electric locomotive is started to be decelerated at a deceleration start point disposed before a target stop position, and is stopped at the target stop position. During the deceleration of the quenching electric locomotive, the speed deviation between the preset target speed and the measured actual speed is monitored. When the speed deviation exceeds a set value, the brake of the quenching electric locomotive is operated to forcibly decelerate the quenching electric locomotive.
