PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always obtain excellent printing image quality for a plurality of recording material while suppressing both downtime and waste of consumables.;SOLUTION: In a step S201, designation of a printing mode (medium) is identified, and gray axis correction control by a color sensor is performed according to the identified printing mode (medium). Subsequently, in a step S204, it is determined whether to predict a value equivalent to result of the gray axis correction control, for a printing mode (medium) different from the printing mode (medium) identified in the step S201, on the basis of result obtained in a step S202.
