PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an anti-histidine tag antibody high in detecting sensitivity and specificity; a gene that encodes the anti-histidine tag antibody; a method and a kit that can detect histidine tag-fused polypeptide with high sensitivity; and a method and a kit that can purify the histidine tag-fused polypeptide with high efficiency.SOLUTION: The anti-histidine tag antibody includes a heavy chain variable region that has a specific amino acid sequence, and a light chain variable region that has a specific amino acid sequence. An anti-histidine tag antibody includes a heavy chain variable region that has an amino acid sequence identical by 90% or more with the specific amino acid sequence, and a light chain variable region that has an amino acid sequence identical by 90% or more with the specific amino acid sequence, and is specifically bonded to a histidine tag. An anti-histidine tag antibody gene encodes the anti-histidine tag antibody. The method and kit are provided for detecting the histidine tag-fused polypeptide using the anti-histidine tag antibody, and the method and kit are provided for purifying the histidine tag-fused polypeptide.
