PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal history estimation method for solving the problem of estimating a temperature history of coal or coke in a furnace, and simply estimating a relatively low-temperature thermal history of less than 600°C in a short time.;SOLUTION: In an inventive thermal history estimation method for coal or coke, the highest arrival temperature in a thermal history of coal or coke is estimated by an R-value which is a ratio of the intensity of a D band peak to that of a G band peak of spectrum obtained from Raman spectroscopy, or by an intensity value of the baseline or an inclination of the baseline of the spectrum.
