PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable excellent soundness evaluation by using the fact that strong wind increases fine motion of a bridge pier to estimate the vibration characteristic of a structure.SOLUTION: A bridge pier soundness evaluation method using fine motion in strong wind has a step for acquiring fine motion in storing wind by an acceleration sensor attached to a bridge pier, a step for calculating a cumulative spectrum on the basis of the fine motion in strong wind, a step for detecting the existence/absence of vortex induced vibration-shaped response to the cumulative spectrum, and a step for estimating a natural frequency on the basis of a dominant frequency in the case of having the vortex induced vibration-shaped response to evaluate the soundness of the bridge pier, and estimates vibration characteristics about external force characteristics acting on the bridge pier on the basis of response of the acceleration sensor.
