PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing element having a narrowed transmission band width and to implement a multi-wavelength light source and a multi-wavelength light transmitter which allow stable single-mode oscillation.;SOLUTION: The wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing element includes: a plurality of delay interferometers 1, 2A, 2B, and 3A to 3D which are cascaded in many stages and each of which includes a first optical coupler 4, a second optical coupler 5, and an optical waveguide 6 and a delay waveguide 7 provided between the first optical coupler and the second optical coupler; and a plurality of ring resonators 11, 12A, 12B, and 13A to 13D optically coupled to the respective optical waveguides of the plurality of delay interferometers. The wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing element is configured so that differences in optical path length between the optical waveguides and the delay waveguides in the plurality of delay interferometers are different among respective stages, round lengths of the ring resonators optically coupled to the plurality of delay interferometers respectively are different among respective stages, and a transmission peak wavelength of each of the plurality of delay interferometer and a resonance wavelength of the ring resonator optically coupled to the delay interferometer coincide with each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
