PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for accurately grasping the effective volume of an air chamber in a furnace and an amount of leakage to enable more accurate model prediction for a level of molten metal.;SOLUTION: The volume of an upper space A is calculated using an equation of a gas state based on the amount of leakage of air from the upper space A, an elapse of time for which the atmospheric pressure in the upper space A increases to a predetermined pressure when air is supplied, the flow rate of the air supplied to the upper space A at that time, the predetermined pressure and the temperature of the upper space A.
