PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article input facility and a method for detecting an overflow of an article from an article collection container in the article input facility that can correctly detect the article likely to drop from the article collection container and prevent a drop of facility processing efficiency.;SOLUTION: The article input facility includes: a conveying device 14 that conveys an article collection container 12 where an article 13 is supplied from an upper open part along a conveying path; an input device 15 disposed along the conveying path to input the article 13 into the article collection container 12; a photoelectric sensor 18 disposed on the downstream side of the input device 15 on the conveying path to detect presence/absence of an object positioned above the top end of the article collection container 12 to be conveyed; and a structure that calculates the detection distance based on the detection length along the conveying direction of the object by the photoelectric sensor 18 to determine that trimming is necessary if the detection distance exceeds a preset threshold value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
