The gold and silver adsorbed on the activated carbon are efficiently eluted. A method for eluting gold and silver adsorbed on activated carbon, wherein gold and silver are eluted with an aqueous thiosulfate solution maintained at a pH of less than 7 with respect to activated carbon on which at least gold and silver are adsorbed.
