Audio amplifier with: - a DSP with compressor (9) and limiter (10) with a set threshold (B, A); a digital power supply (17) with an overcurrent protection; where the limiter (10) is set to limit a signal to a set threshold (B) and with an attack time shorter than the response time of the power supply (17), while - the compressor (9) is set with eep ~ attack time longer than the attack time of the limiter (10) and • is set to actively attenuate the signal from the DSP (6) to a level below the set threshold (A) of the compressor (9).
