Aerosolized dapsone as a therapy for airway inflammation and abnormal mucociliary transport. Aerosolized dapsone (or, alternatively, an aqueous formulation of dapsone) is used to treat airway inflammation, particularly chronic neutrophil-dominated inflammation. Diseases that can be prevented or treated by the methods include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cystic fibrosis, among others.
