The present invention relates to a surface finishing process of plastic substrates, preferably polymethyl methacrylate (hereinafter abbreviated as pmma), by coating with a clear coating material comprising nanoparticles (hereinafter coating material). nanocomposite) and irradiating it under vacuum with a 172 nm wavelength UV of an xe * excimer lamp. This process leads to excellent adhesion of the coating substance to the substrate. In addition, it is possible to provide a topography to the coating surface. The mechanical and chemical properties and performance characteristics of the uncoated substrate are substantially exceeded when the substrate is coated in this manner.
