In order for a coating to have industrial implication for plastic materials, its main requirements would be substantial scratch and abrasion resistance. Abrasion- and scratch-resistant hybrid coatings made through sol-gel methods have been regarded most favorable for plastic substrates applications. Additionally, by temperatures below 150 degrees C, the plastic substrates becoming soft therefore, the hybrid sol compositions are only UV curable or UV and low-temperature thermal curable combination coatings.
