The present invention relating to a method of making more uniform instantaneous consumption of electric power in time is characterized by monitoring a predicted electric power consumption being withdrawn from a transmission and distribution network and a predicted production of the electric power being delivered to that network. Data is sent into as control unit (21) in time intervals shorter than 15 minutes. Based on the difference in ascertained values of the predicted withdrawal and production an estimated excess of the produced amount of the electric power for the next period. In case of excess ascertainment, a proposition of electric power for reduced price is sent for the reduction of the electric power excess from the control unit (21) to smart electric meters (31, 32, 33, 34) that are connected to the given distribution network. Subsequently, based on response from the smart electric meters (31, 32, 33, 34), a newly anticipated excess of the produced electric power is calculated. In case of ascertainment of a positive result, information, regarding confirmation of the proposition is sent to all the smart electric meters (31, 32, 33, 34), which participated in the response, while in case of ascertainment of a negative result, the control unit (21) selects from the smart electric meters (31, 32, 33, 34) only a subset to which the proposition will be confirmed.
