Vaccine vectors and methods for using vaccine vectors to enhance the immune response to the spore parasite and reduce morbidity or mortality associated with subsequent infection are presented in the present description. Vaccine vectors include a polynucleotide encoding a diamond-shaped polypeptide, and, optionally, include an immunostimulatory polypeptide, respectively, expressed on the surface of the vaccine vector.
