The invention relates to the power industry and can be used in plants for production of high-grade biofuel from wooden and crop wastes; in particular, a method is proposed for low-temperature biomass pyrolysis using a pyrolysis reactor having vertically disposed trays, characterised in that the reactor has at least two trays, wherein the temperature of the process running in the upstream half along the biomass path or on the upper tray is higher than the temperature of the process running in the downstream half or on the lower tray, the temperatures being preferably 260 and 240°C, respectively, and the reactor heating is provided partially by gas that is the product of low-temperature pyrolysis discharged from the reactor and heated to the required temperature in an external device, and partially by a high-temperature liquid heat-carrier heated in an external device. Implementation of the claimed method increases energy efficiency of the low-temperature biomass pyrolysis process.
