The lightning protection device comprises a lightning conductor, located on a non-metallic blade (1), for receiving a lightning current and a grounding descent (2) of the blade electrically connected to the lightning conductor; the first conductive component (3) for lightning current, electrically connected to the earthing slope (2) of the blade and connected to the outer surface of the rotor (5) of the generator in an insulated manner; the second conductive component (7) for lightning current, connected to the outer surface of the generator rotor and the insulated housing (6) of the fairing in an insulated manner and electrically connected to the first conductive component (3) for lightning current using a metal conductor (9); a lightning-protective grounding descent (11) for electrically connecting the second conductive component (7) for the lightning current to the grounding component (15) located in the tower in order to divert the lightning current to the ground through the tower. Also disclosed is a direct drive wind turbine generator system and a method for its lightning protection.
