In the present invention the basic principle of anodic stripping voltammetry with three electrodes configuration has been used to provide a novel electrochemical device and process for the quantification of low ppb (�g/l) level of mercury in aqueous/ non-aqueous & biological samples. In the present invention the three electrodes configuration essentially consists of a metal or carbon tipped sensing electrode, an inert metal counter/auxiliary electrode and a conventional reference electrode.
