In an apparatus on a textile machine, in particular a flat card, roller card or the like, having at least two rollers or roller groups, each driven by a controllable electric drive motor, a control device and a switch unit are present in the power supply leads of the drive motors of two rollers or roller groups. To permit the used of standard motors in a simple manner, without an additional control unit or regulating unit, at least one digitally operating control unit and/or regulating unit is present for the drive of a roller or roller group, which device is capable of exchanging data with the machine control system, and the switch unit is arranged in the current supply leads of the drive motor of the cylinder and the drive motor of a further roller or roller group, whereby the control unit and/or regulating unit for the drive of the further roller or roller group can be used also for the start-up and/or braking process of the cylinder.
