Abstract The invention relates to a device for monitoring a suction air flow of a condensing unit on a spinning machine having a drafting arrangement (1) from which the drafted fiber material (F) is guided over a condensing zone (V) to which a negative pressure is applied and which is provided with apertures (O), wherein at a distance and above the condensing zone (V), an air guiding element (16) in the form of a deflector screen is attached. In order to obtain a simple integration of a monitoring device into existing systems it is proposed that a partial segment (17) of the air guiding element (16), which partial segment is arranged opposite to the surface (AF) of the condensing zone, is movably mounted on the air guiding element and that said partial segment is connected to at least one means (21) by means of which during a decrease of the suction air flow, the partial segment (17) is lifted from the surface (AF) of the condensing zone (V) and that at least one display means (22) for optically displaying the lifted position of the partial segment is provided.
