The present disclosure provides an Automated Transaction Machine (ATM) (100) for generating and renewing insurance policies, said ATM (100) comprises; a bar code reader (303b) for scanning a bar code comprising policy information and providing the information to a central processing unit (115), at least one display monitors (102) interfaced with the central processing unit (115) for displaying policy details of the scanned bar code and premium information of the policy, wherein the central processing unit (115) interacts with a server to fetch the policy details and the premium information, a scanner (307) configured for scanning documents and providing it to the central processing unit (115), a means for receiving premium payment for the insurance policies; and a printer (308) for printing the insurance policy.
