A hybrid puffer cylinder for gas circuit breaker interrupte,, comprising: an insulating chamber for storage of gas; a hybrid puffer cylinder having a movable piston for pressurizing the gas supplied from the insulating chamber; an insulating nozzle for blowing compressed gas over a high temperature arc when formed due to electrical fault between a pair of designated fixed contact means, and a moving arcing contact means; characterized in that the hybrid puffer cylinder comprises an insulating puffer head held firmly to a metallic blast cylinder by a contoured metallic high voltage ring shield, and in that the profiled ring connector is enabled to operate as a high voltage metallic shield to minimize the voltage stress at the junction of the insulating head of the puffer cylinder.
