METHOD TO DISPLAY GRAYSCALES ON BI-STABLE LIGHT MODULATORS AND REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION IN LIGHT SOURCES

The present disclosure relates to a method of reduce the number of time intervals to display gray scales with bi-stable light modulators like digital micro-mirror device. The method includes grouping a few bits of gray scales and applying pulse width modulation along with intensity modulation of light sources to the bits. Further, the method includes performing colour sequential process by using light sources of primary colours to illuminate the light modulator and display colour images. Thus, the micro pulse width modulation along with intensity control is useful to reduce power consumption of light sources that illuminate the light modulator. Figure 14
