A method for automatically segmenting a feature of interest in an image is presented. The method includes obtaining at least one image corresponding to a subject of interest. Furthermore, the method includes identifying a location of a feature of interest in the at least one image to localize the feature of interest. The method also includes generating a first initialization curve representative of an upper boundary of the localized feature of interest and a second initialization curve representative of a lower boundary of the localized feature of interest.
