A recombinant bivalent chimeric gene r-CPAE encoding fusion protein for effective protection against Clostridium perfringens The present invention provides for a recombinant bivalent chimeric gene r-cpae (738 bp) inlcuding C domain (1030 to 1374 bp) region of C. perfringens alpha toxin (a total of 345 bp), Glycine linker sequence (a total of 45 bp), and C domain (732 to 1079 bp) region of C. perfringens enterotoxin (a total of 348 bp). The chimeric gene encodes a 26.6kDa bivalent fusion protein encompassing specific portions of alpha toxin and enterotoxin of Clostridium perfringens. The recombinant bivalent fusion protein encompassing the C- terminal binding domains of alpha and enterotoxin is used as an immunogen to elicit protective immune response and also as an effective candidate vaccine molecule against lethal Clostridium perfringens infections.
