Present invention provides PVdF-HFP based polymer electrolyte comprising lithium triflate salt and BaTiO3 ceramic filler and a method for preparation thereof. Solution casting method is employed in the preparation of films. The method consists of two phases. In the first phase, solid polymer electrolyte membranes (SPEs) are prepared by dissolving PVDF-HFP polymer in the solvent and then lithium triflate salt is added. In the second phase, composite polymer electrolyte membranes are prepared by adding BaTiO3 filler to the optimized salt composition obtained from phase one. The polymer electrolyte or films obtained have maximum ionic conductivity and thermal stability.
